Hunting Course


the basics of hunting and the outdoors. Participants will gain knowledge and learn about hunter safety and hunting techniques, and will take a written test at the end of class.  Participants who pass the test will receive a card of eligibility to purchase a hunting license. This class is a prerequisite to purchase
a license. Participants must attend both classes. No exceptions. Lunch will be
provided to all participants Saturday. Pre-registration is required. Call 840-7440 to register.

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training


The American Red Cross is offering an ideal course for youth and teens who want to become babysitters. This five-hour course will be taught by a certified American Red Cross instructor and designed to train youth and teens to become effective babysitters. The course will stress the following: developing professionalism, leadership and care giving skills, safety skills to prevent emergencies, managing real life problems, diapering, feeding and tips on finding babysitting jobs. Participants must bring a packed lunch.

9 am - 2 pm

Family & Friends First Aid for Children


The American Heart Association Family & Friends First Aid for Children program teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child for the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This program covers such topics as recognizing and treating basic first aid emergencies, relief of choking in infants and children and preventing injuries. Great for babysitters and older siblings who want basic first aid information, but who do not need a course completion credential. Taught by Bryan Einsig, certified instructor of the American Heart Association.

Geology Hike


hike at Nixon Park. This popular hike will include a one mile walk that discusses the geology of the area. It will cover erosion, the role of water, rock and soil formations, soil value and the recycling of nature. Boots or sneakers are recommended.

NEW! NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick


This program is a national skills competition that offers boys and girls the opportunity to compete against each other in football skills events. The three different events will consist of punting, passing and kicking. Winners will  compete at Sectionals and could advance to the National Finals, which will take place at an NFL Divisional Playoff game. Don’t forget to mark your calendars! Must pre-register. A copy of a birth certificate must be submitted upon registration. No exceptions. Deadline to register is September 5, 4:30pm.

NEW! Christmas Crafts


This class will make two Christmas crafts to enjoy over the holidays. Participants will make a reindeer candy holder and a snowman pin or magnet. They can be used as decorations or given as gifts! Please join us for a fun filled morning!!|

NEW! Bob's Critters


This program talks about a wide variety of birds, snakes, lizards, amphibians, turtles, alligators and invertebrates. It explains the proper handling, eating habits, defense mechanisms and habitats of these animals. Participants will get a close up look at all the live animals and have the opportunity to hold some of the animals. Precautions are taken to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Parents must be present.

NEW! Reptiles!


Learn all about reptiles and what reptiles live in our area. This class explains the habitats, life cycles and fascinating characteristics of reptiles. Participants will tour various indoor exhibits and also see live snakes!
